THE VISION

My goal with this video is to make something we haven’t done before - a super dope visual piece of art by leaning into in-camera special effects and dynamic lighting to make Gio and the band look larger than life and reflect the image that they deserve.

sUPER SLOW MOTION

After the rage room we would go to a video studio warehouse with the WHOLE band to capture some super slow motion of drywall being destroyed as well as a bunch of other items from a thrift store being smashed.

BONUS: while we have this badass super slow mo camera we would film a number of special shots of the band…
- water hitting the cymbals as Milton hits crash
- Jerry jumping in the air
- Carlos swinging guitar around neck
- Trejo doing his thing
- Gio being crazy

slow shutter = high energy

We’d film Gio and the band performing the song several times through using this “slow shutter” effect. This technique gives high energy and a chaotic feel to the video when sprinkled in like a special seasoning. I haven’t used this before in a Giovannie video but I’ve been using it lately in LIVE performance sizzle reels and people love it and it gets a big reaction.

PRISM LENS EFFECTS

Then I’d film Gio perform the song TO CAMERA using this prism effect. This isn’t something that’s done in editing but instead it’s using a piece of glass in front of the lens. The example below shows what I’m talking about (prism lens FX) which will be an effect to increase the production value… in other words… make the video look even more expensive.

FISH EYE LENS SHOTS

The fish eye lens look is something I’ve always wanted to do with Gio. This perspective really highlights how entertaining and animated Gio is as a frontman on stage and on camera.

REAL CAMCORDER FOOTAGE

I’ll shoot real camcorder footage with a handicap from the 90s and digitize the footage. This medium gives a nostalgic vibe that goes hand in hand with the style of music GATHG records - which is evident in the Youtube comments - people love the throw back!

DYNAMIC LIGHTING CHANGES

In our previous 5 videos we have focused on storytelling and less on dynamic lighting (lighting that is changing in the scene).
In this video VISUALS would be the focus, making Gio and the band look as badass as possible using lighting that is changing constantly giving the video a high shelf look and feel. I would employ the skills of a gaffer who has experience with programing Titan astera tube lights or similar.

RAGE ROOM

First stop, letting out some rage in the RAGE ROOM. I’d film Gio (without the band) bashing, busting and crushing a bunch of shit and then superimpose the footage into an image of Gio’s head representing the battle that’s going on within.
We’d pay a visit to one of the many “Rage Rooms” in the Dallas area and I’ll film Gio smashing a bunch of stuff wearing some coveralls or whatever Gio wants to wear. Mix of slow motion and slow shutter footage.

LENGTH OF SHOOT

I’m hoping to make this a 3-4 hr shoot so Gio and the band can come in blazing and pour their energy into the performance scenes and then “peace out.”

EXTRAS (TALENT)

There won’t be a need for a bunch of extras or hiring a cast of talent so we’ll be able to keep this budget relatively modest.

THAT’S IT!

Looking forward to hear what you think!
